Helen Marjorie Orr Williams's Obituary

Helen Marjorie Orr Williams of Parkland, Florida, passed away peacefully, leaving a legacy of faith, service, excellence, and enduring love for her family and community.

Born to the Orr family, Helen demonstrated a commitment to achievement from an early age. She graduated summa cum laude from Carver High School and continued her academic journey as a summa cum laude graduate of Florida A&M University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree.

Helen enjoyed a distinguished professional career as an administrator with IBM Inc., where she was respected for her dedication, leadership, and professionalism. Her outstanding service was recognized through numerous honors, including the prestigious IBM Means Service Award. In addition to her corporate career, she was a co-owner of SM&H, doing business as McDonald’s, helping to build a successful family enterprise.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Helen accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and maintained a strong, active walk with the Lord throughout her life. Wherever she lived, she sought out a church home and faithfully served. She was a past member of New Mount Olive Baptist Church and served on the Deaconess Board of Directors. Her quiet strength, compassion, and servant’s heart were evident to all who knew her.

Helen was also committed to scholarship, sisterhood, and community service. She was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; The Links, Incorporated (North Broward Chapter); and the White and Gold Honor Society. Through these organizations, she worked tirelessly to uplift others and strengthen her community.

Above all, Helen cherished her family. She shared a loving and devoted marriage of 58 years with her husband, Samuel Williams, whose partnership and love were central to her life. She is also survived by her son, Micah Williams; her daughter-in-law, Vonetta Williams; and her beloved grandchildren, Malah and Skylar Williams; as well as her brothers, James Orr and Raymond Orr, along with a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory. She was preceded in death by her brothers Nathaniel Orr and Henry Orr and her sisters Dorothy Hill, Jessie Herring, and Betty Williams.

Helen’s life was marked by grace, dignity, wisdom, and unwavering faith. Through her professional accomplishments, church service, community leadership, and the countless quiet ways she cared for others, she touched many lives and leaves a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew her.
