McArthur
Wesley
Aug 1, 1951 — May 20, 2026
McArthur “Big Mack” Wesley, affectionately known as “Pero,” was born on August 1, 1951, to Willie Ruth Wesley and Woodrow Carter. On May 20, 2026, he peacefully transitioned from this earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, friendship, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Raised in Delray Beach, Florida, McArthur developed a strong work ethic at an early age. He was a proud member of the historic Carver High School Football Championship Team of 1969, where he wore jersey number 83. His dedication, discipline, and team spirit on the football field reflected the character he carried throughout his life. He later proudly graduated from Atlantic HighSchool, Class of 1971, and immediately entered the workforce, determined to build a future for himself and his family.McArthur later answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army, where he served honorably before receiving an honorable discharge.Following his military service, McArthur worked for several employers throughout his life, building a reputation as a hardworking and dependable man. Prior to retirement, he worked for the Lake Worth Drainage District, where he was respected for his dedication and strong work ethic.McArthur was a man of strength, determination, and quiet confidence. He knew who he was and remained steadfast in his convictions. Though naturally reserved, those who knew him best understood the depth of his loyalty, love, and commitment to thepeople closest to him. One of his most memorable features was his warm and unforgettable smile—a smile that could brighten a room and make others feel welcomed and at ease.He enjoyed life's simple pleasures—sitting on the porch, sharing stories, laughing with longtime friends, and enjoying the company of those he cared about most. His circle may not have been large, but the friendships he cultivated were meaningful and lasting. His beloved porch buddies, Coach Bill Ceasar, his Godbrother Grady Grant, and many other lifelong friends brought him great joy throughout the years.McArthur was also a devoted Miami Dolphins fan. Win or lose, he remained loyal to his team and rarely missed a game. Whether watching from home or attending games in person, he cheered passionately for the Dolphins and looked forward to every season.McArthur also took tremendous pride in his home and especially in his yard. Anyone who knew Pero knew how much he enjoyed working outdoors and keeping his property looking its best. One of the many memories that family and friends will treasure was watching Pero dance to his favorite song. With hissignature moves and unmistakable style, he would light up the room and bring smiles to everyone around him. That special dance became affectionately known as “The Pero.”Family was especially important to Pero. Before his marriage, he was blessed with his first daughter, Felicite Stroud. Later, hemarried Patcy A. Wesley, and to that union two children were born, Arthur J. Wesley (A.J.) and Michele Wesley. Together, theywere a family of six, which also included Michael Lynn (Kim) and Kerry Lynn.McArthur was a member of Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church prior to his illness. During his years of membership, he servedfaithfully on the Usher Board, where he welcomed worshippers during Sunday services and special events. He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Ruth Wesley; his father, Woodrow Carter; and his brothers, Charles Wesley, Anthony Williams, and Martin Wesley.
